The LIFE TECMINE Project: a reference for sustainable mine restoration

Interest in the LIFE TECMINE project and the techniques used is growing among professionals and we received visits from two official professional colleges.

On 31 May and 1 June, the 2nd Morella/Teruel Conference on sustainable mining took place, organised by the Official Association of Technical Engineers and Degrees in Mines and Energy from East to South, the Official Association of Technical Engineers and Degrees in Mines and Energy from Aragon and the Teruel City Council.

During these days, the participants visited the Fortuna Mine (Ademuz) on 31 May and learned about the restoration that has been carried out within the framework of the LIFE TECMINE project. On 1 June, during the speeches session, a general overview of the project was presented and the geomorphological restoration was presented as a solution for mine restoration.

Likewise, on 12 June, the project was visited by professionals from the Official Association of Engineers in Mines from East, during which the general aspects of the project and the innovative techniques implemented were presented.

The Fortuna mine is the only restoration carried out in the Valencia Region with the innovative GeoFluv technique and the LIFE TECMINE project has become a reference for the mining sector, both private and public professionals. Technicians and companies are interested in knowing the techniques used in the project to implement them in other regions, which is leading to the need to train professionals in these and other ecological restoration techniques.
